Growing up, Brandon Beja was always fascinated by police, fire and EMS, but it wasn’t until he was involved in an accident that he pursued a career in public service.
“When I was 16, I joined the Marlboro First Aid & Rescue Squad after I was involved in a motor vehicle accident. I was able to view firsthand what first responders did on a day-to-day basis. Later on, a friend of mine introduced me to the fire company and the rest is history,” said Brandon.
Brandon joined Robertsville Volunteer Fire Company in September of 2006 and began his second term as the company’s chief in January of this year, with his first stint running from 2014 to 2019.
“Joining this department has been the greatest experience and becoming chief has been one of my greatest accomplishments yet. It has certainly shaped me into who I am today,” said Brandon.
In addition to being the chief, Brandon is the father to three children: Noah (7), Brody (5) and Brielle (8 weeks). Brandon’s wife, Kate, is also a volunteer firefighter at the fire company.
“It certainly can be difficult to balance everything at times, but if you have the desire to be a volunteer, you will make it work,” said Brandon.
Brandon’s favorite part about being involved with the organization is the tight-knit community within the firehouse and the friendships that have evolved into a extended family.
“It is a great organization, with people coming from many walks of life. No matter day or night, someone is always available to help you out if you need a hand,” said Brandon.
Robertsville Volunteer Fire Company is 100% volunteer and is always looking for new members to join as firefighters, junior firefighters, fire police or administrative volunteers.
